How did you find out about WGKA?

One repeatedly hears that some conservatives and Republicans will either vote Democrat or not vote at all -- out of anger at the Republican Party.

According to these Republican holdouts, the Republicans have governed as Democrats-lite by greatly increasing government spending and doing little about illegal immigration. Accordingly, it is better to have liberal government under liberals than liberal government under Republicans, and the Republicans need to be taught a lesson so that in the future they will govern as authentic Republicans.

Conservatives should file this thinking under the heading "Cathartic," but not under "Smart."

One of the great realizations one comes to as the years pass is how small a role reason plays in most people's decisions. From choosing products based on their packaging to deciding how to vote, passion and emotion usually eclipse reason.

Any Republican, let alone conservative, who votes Democrat or stays home out of pique with the Republican Congress or the president has chosen emotion over reason.

Have the Bush administration and Republican Congress spent too much money? Of course. And it really is quite annoying. Nothing unites conservative and moderate Republicans as does opposition to big government.

So it is not surprising that so many Republicans are furious at the increases in government spending, such as the staggeringly expensive Medicare prescription drug plan.

Add to this the fury of the conservative base of the Republican Party at the administration's apparent apathy toward illegal "immigration," and you have an Election Day problem.

Now, regarding spending, I share Republicans' anger. Republicans who don't control government spending do far more harm than Democrats who don't. Why? Because when the smaller-government party expands government, those who believe in smaller government have nowhere to turn.

Nevertheless, if it were not for the Bush administration, we never would have gotten the substantial tax cuts that have led to such a robust economy (especially impressive in light of the costs of the war in Iraq and of Katrina). Continued...

Subject: Conservatives, vote your principles
The Pragers of the world would have you believe voting for the lesser of the two evils is the way to get you a conservative gov in your lifetime. Supposedly the lesser of the two liberal parties in America is gonna get you their so put aside your principles that a third party is offering you or better represents you and give us a chance again.
Now I do agree with Prager that disgruntled cons do themselves no good to elect Demos.
I myself as a fiscal conservative first and a social conservative second, will be voting for the Libertarian party in the future. They definately adhere to fiscally responsible gov, with no gov. funding of social ills, although socially tolerant of these ills.
Compromise is needed so future generations won't be enslaved by and to the debts of extremist spendings of today.
American we can do better than the status quo of the two main parties.

Our Duty
My wife and I voted early. Straight GOP ticket. It was like drinkng a cup of rancid, sour milk for us. But we felt it our duty. Gone was the enthusiasm we had in 2000/04 for "W". But the thought of the left wing/socialistic/traitorous dem's getting any kind of majority rule is so frightening - again; we did out duty. But come Nov. 8th the letters/emails are going to start flying out to our 2 senators and congressman on a weekly basis. And the subject of this correspondence is not Iraq. We support the President in that area. And we thank him also for this great economy and great judges. But his refusal to secure our nations southern border has caused great suffering for average Americans, especially those of us living in the border states. Suffering! That is not an exageration. There are so many catagories and examples of this, I'd have to write a book to get them all covered. But the President doesn't seem to be at all aware or concerned. Here's the irony - look at the President now! He's out there campaigning like crazy. Very successfully, I might ad. It just goes to show what he can do when he wants something to go his way. He's the best. An awesome motivator and leader. If he were to focus that energy on sealing our southern border, protecting our nations sovereignty, etc., it would be done! And we hope that come 11/8 that the President does move in this direction. This one issue is what is hurting his approval numbers. And if not addressed, it will ruin the Republican's chances in 2008. He needs to start thinking about that. Its my belief that he may not even be aware of how important this one issue is. And, I fear, most in his periphery are just too timid to get nose to nose with him. Someone needs to and asap.
"A non-vote is the same as a vote for a dem. Vote straight Republican Ticket - one more time - just do it."
