Results of a Research 2000 poll done for WISC-TV in Madison, Wis., which asked likely voters in Wisconsin for their views on the presidential race. THE POLL: WISC-TV poll of 600 randomly selected likely voters in Wisconsin (10 electoral votes.) THE NUMBERS: Barack Obama 51 percent, John McCain 41 percent. OF INTEREST: Obama's 10-point lead is his largest in any poll done in Wisconsin since the summer, before the two national political conventions. The three most recent polls, all done within the past three weeks, showed him with more modest leads of 7 points, 6 points and 5 points. The turmoil on Wall Street and throughout the economy is benefiting Obama, with 57 percent of survey respondents saying they think he is better able to handle the economy. Only 31 percent said they thought McCain would do better. DETAILS: Conducted Oct. 5 and Oct. 6 by landline telephone. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
